Is it a space alien or a vegetable?
Romanesco cauliflower, with its strikingly and oddly shaped pointed spiral pyramid head, could be confused with a plant from a Dr. Seuss book. Originally from Northern Italy, romanesco's flavor is reminiscent of a mild cauliflower, yet has an attractive pale lime - green color. Use romanesco in place of cauliflower in recipes, as a fun addition to crudites platters, or roast whole in the oven. Store in a bag in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

kumquats are originally from China and Japan.
