Based on information we have been receiving, Liberty Heights Fresh wants to alert you regarding the impact extreme weather is having on winter vegetable availability.
Sadly, many leafy winter vegetable crops have been impacted by the low temperatures. While specific item shortages are not uncommon during the winter months, shortages are being experienced across the board and will extend through the month of January.
The timing of this is particularly unfortunate as it coincides with an increase in consumer demand for healthy food choices following the holidays. The increased demand along with the reduced supply resulted in increased pricing.
Fortunately, our diverse grower base and long-standing relationships will help mitigate the impact of this shortage for our customers. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you posted. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
