Our favorite lentils come direct from Idaho. Zürsun heirloom beans and lentils are grown on small farms in the Snake River Canyon region of Idaho, with the ideal growing conditions for beans and lentils. Their authentic heirloom products are from ancient seeds untouched by genetic science or modern technology. Their beans and lentils are rich and flavorful, delicate and nuanced, and of course, delicious.
Zürsun is owned and run by Jim Soran, a second-generation "bean guy" with 60 years of family roots in the Idaho bean industry. Jim is committed to discover, produce and distribute the world's finest heirloom lentils. Zürsun's original owner discovered several Idaho farmers growing unknown heirloom lentil varieties, and was instrumental in developing and cultivating new heirloom varieties, such as the Black Beluga and the Petite Crimson.
Beans and lentils are not only good for you – they are good for the planet. Both require less water and fertilizer than many grain crops, and as a source of protein, beans and lentils have a minimal environmental impact as compared to any animal protein source.
