FAQs

Are all of your products local?

In short, no. We do our best to source local products from the amazing bakers, makers, and creators in our city and neighboring states, but sometimes we have to source deliciousness from further distances. Quality and flavor are the most important attributes we look for when finding new products, and sometimes that means sourcing from California, the east coast, or even abroad. Do you know a local producer making delicious food with high ingredient integrity? Send us a note at heyeat@libertyheightsfresh.com

Why are your products so expensive?

In 2022, it’s not easy being a single-location mom & pop shop. Big box stores and supermarkets get lots of discounts from suppliers because they order very high volumes. Most of their products are also sourced from large, conventional growers or mass-production facilities, making costs low. …. At Liberty Heights Fresh, we vet all of our vendors to make sure that the products they grow and make are made from the best quality ingredients and that the growers and workers throughout the supply are paid fairly. We believe that quality food should not harm the soil its grown in, nor the workers that grow it. That’s why we work exclusively with vendors that share this same ethos. The Real Cost of Good Food is much higher than we realize…. Since we order small quantities of product that will fit on our shelves, doing our very best to minimize waste, we don’t receive the volume discounts that other chains too. We prioritize providing good benefits and wages to our staff while never compromising on the quality of the products we sell. While it might be easier to sell more, less expensive product, what makes us unique is that we will never compromise on the quality of produce in our store. The commitment we have to our values is steadfast, which is why customers know that by shopping at our store, they are browsing the very best that Salt Lake City and Utah has to offer.

Why are you always out of stock of my favorite product?

Since we are a small business and we care about the environment and reducing food waste, we never over-order. We order just enough product that we can sell in a short period of time so we can have the freshest available and so we can reduce spoilage. Unfortunately, this might mean that sometimes we are out of stock on your favorite items. Please feel free to call the store and reserve a dozen of your favorite eggs, organic chicken, or any other product so we can have it ready for your weekly meal or special occasion!
