Item Highlights
LHF Garden Sage
Sage is often found in many holiday dishes and is commonly used to season poultry or sausage, infuse butter, or to add flavor to root vegetables like sweet potatoes or parsnips. Like most herbs, sage is incredibly aromatic, so much so that you can often smell it before you even start cooking with it. This particular sage was grown nextdoor in our amazing LHF garden. We tend to our garden year round in order to provide you with delicious, as local as you can get, organic herbs.
Garrotxa
This old-style DOP certifi ed cheese was revived by Catalonian cheesemakers dedicated to traditional production methods. The environmental conditions of the region naturally foster the growth of grey-blue mold, penicillium galaucum, which forms on the rind. Semi-soft paste, tangy flavor, with a nutty, herbal finish are typical of this cheese. Production is carried out with pasteurized goat’s milk. The molded cheese is salted in a bath for approximately six hours and fi nally allowed to mature in a fresh, humid environment. Garroxta presents a bluishgray velvety cortex with a white interior that is compact, with small cavities throughout. The taste is slightly acidic and pungent with a nutty aftertaste. Garrotxa pairs well with white wines, either dry or fruity.
Alp Blossom
Procured in the Bavarian Alps, Alp Blossom is a fragrant, flavorful, exuberant expression of its native Alpine flora. After aging, the cheese is dressed in a coat of dried herbs and colorful flowers from the surrounding meadows. A beefy, umami paste is juxtaposed with a sweet, floral rind to create a stunningly beautiful cheese. It’s sweet, savory, almost oniony notes are perfect for pairing with this weeks Askinosie Dark Chocolate as well as Jamon Serrano available at our cheese counter!
Udon Noodles WA Imports
Udon Katakuriko, or Udon made from potato starch is made in the Hokkaido style, a mountainess region that receives heavy snowfall and is also one of the largest potato producing regions. The starch from the potato flour does not provide much potato flavor, but is necessary to produce the ideal Koshi, or strong texture preferred by most Udon lovers. This versatile noodle can be served hot or cold, in a broth or plain with a sticky sauce.
